Walk Strong to Cure JM

NEW! Walk Strong to Cure JM!

The National Conference and Family Fundraising Event gives families an opportunity to connect with other JM Families.

Cure JM families will come together to cap off the weekend with the Walk Strong to Cure JM family fundraising walk on Sunday Morning. Families attending the conference will sign up for the walk when registering for the Cure JM Conference.

The walk will feature games, activities for kids and teens, food, awards, and a family fun walk. It's a fun and memorable way to end the conference weekend!

Walk Strong to Cure JM allows Cure JM families to raise funds by walking in honor of the special person in their life that is fighting JM.

As part of the walk, we highly encourage all families to fundraise at least $250 each -- or more!  By fundraising, YOU will move us closer to a cure. During the walk and the months leading up to the walk, the JM community mobilizes and is propelled into action. You will develop a strong sense of camaraderie even before you arrive at the conference!

Form a team and raise funds for JM Research at the Walk Strong to Cure JM family walk held on Sunday at the National Conference.  As part of the walk we highly encourage all families to raise $250 each - or more!

How do families raise funds as part of the walk? By forming a Walk Team! A Team is a group of people who join together to support Cure JM and walk together at the event. A Team can be made up of family, friends, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, a school, friends, anyone!

A Team Captain (typically a Cure JM parent, patient, or Grandparent) will encourage others to join the Team, motivate them to reach their fundraising goals, and keep them engaged throughout the process.

Participating in the walk is a highlight of being on a Walk Team, but if your friends and family aren't traveling to Austin, they can still be on your team "virtually"! The more people on your team the better and the more fun your Team will have along the way! More tips & tricks on forming a fun walk team coming soon.

Kids' Camp

One of our most popular attractions is the Kids' Fun Camp, for children age 3-10.

The Kids' Fun Camp will be supervised and facilitated by a team of elementary school teachers so that caregivers can attend the educational sessions.

Kids' Fun Camp will include:

  • A fun-filled day of activities and games with a Star Wars theme; activities are designed for JM kids and siblings ages 3-10, of all abilities
  • A special musical guest who will lead the kids in music activities -- kids will be invited to perform what they have learned for the parents & physicians in the audience
  • A wide variety of crafts, games and fun activities to play with the new friends they make at the conference
  • NEW!  Cure JM kids, teens, and siblings will enjoy complimentary time in the Kids' Fun Zone featuring inflatable bounce houses, arts & crafts, basketball arcade, games, ping pong, air hockey, toys, billiards, and pinball.

The Kids' Zone includes inflatables and a full arcade.

Now is the time

Engaging our JM families, physicians, researchers, and patient advocates is critically important to driving greater progress with JM diagnosis, treatments and ultimately a remission or a cure for all JM children and adults.

Within the Cure JM leadership team, we often talk about the importance of JM families taking action to increase the chance for a cure and now is that time!

JM families can gather together in a family-friendly location like Austin, Texas and participate in the educational and fundraising efforts. These efforts will make a difference.  I hope you can join us!
