Shari Hume co-founded Cure JM in 2003 with her husband, Tom, after learning that her son Parker (then age 4) was battling juvenile dermatomyositis. Shari has served in multiple positions for Cure JM, including President and VP of Marketing, and has received several awards for her leadership and fundraising efforts at Cure JM.
Currently, she is passionate about driving the Cure JM research agenda forward. Shari and Tom have been passionate fundraisers, leading the charge for Cure JM’s annual Giving Tuesday Holiday Challenge annually since 2013.
Shari received her MBA from SMU in Dallas, TX and her BA from Southwest Texas State University, (now Texas State University), where she received a full tennis scholarship. After graduation, Shari worked as an Account Executive at Bozell, Inc. on the American Airlines account and an Account Supervisor at Temerlin-McClain Advertising (now TM Advertising) in Dallas. Her clients included American Airlines, 7-Eleven, Paramount Parks, and GTE (now Verizon).
Shari and her husband live in Encinitas, California and are the parents of three boys: Connor, Parker, and Cole.
