Melissa joined Cure JM in fall 2019 and is deeply involved in advancing Cure JM’s mission at both the local and national levels. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Cure JM Pittsburgh Chapter, Co-Chair of the Pittsburgh Walk Strong Committee, and National Walk Strong Chair. Melissa also co-chaired the Toast for a Cure event in Pittsburgh in September 2022.
Professionally, Melissa is an Academic Specialist and Special Education teacher at Pressley Ridge Day School in Pittsburgh, where she works closely with children and families impacted by trauma and emotional disturbance. She previously worked as a preschool teacher and an elementary special education teacher.
Melissa lives in Wexford, Pennsylvania with her husband and two children, Ella and Matthew. Her daughter Ella was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis at age 11 and continues treatment today. In the fall, Melissa and her family enjoy spending weekends cheering on their beloved Penn State Nittany Lions.
