COPING FOR CAREGIVERS TOWN HALL
Join us Sunday, October 18th at 8:00pm EST
Coping with a life-altering diagnosis like Juvenile Myositis is difficult for the whole family. In this Town Hall, two mental health facilitators will explore some common emotional and physical side effects of caring for a child with a chronic disease.
You'll learn about real-world coping strategies, resilience, and practical tips that you can take home and use in your daily life.
This session is for all Cure JM caregivers, regardless of how long or recently your child has been diagnosed.
This Town Hall is presented by Carol Schwartz, LCSW and Suzanne Edison, MA, MFA.

JEFF BORNEMISS RECOGNIZED WITH THE 2020 BARC SIMPSON COMMUNITY HERO AWARD
Cure JM Volunteer Jeff Bornemiss was recently awarded the 2020 Barc Simpson Community Hero Award in Columbus, Ohio.

Jeff Bornemiss is a friend of Cure JM parents Zack and Sandi Harrison. Zack and Sandi are the Presidents of the Ohio Chapter of Cure JM and their daughter Sydney was diagnosed with JDM at the age of 3 in 2015.
In 2019 Jeff felt called to get involved in supporting Sydney and he pulled together a committee to organize the Inaugural Swing fore a Cure Columbus golf event, benefitting Cure JM Foundation.
Since 2019, Jeff and the committee have organized two successful golf events, raising over $30,000 to support Cure JM’s work.

“I am so grateful to Jeff and his amazing leadership," says Zack Harrison. "Receiving this award is a big honor.”
In recognition of Jeff’s leadership and the Barc Simpson Community Hero Award, Simpson Strong Tie made an additional $2,500 donation to Cure JM.
“It is an honor to be able to help in this way,” says Jeff. “It is my pleasure to support all the kids like Sydney who go through so much with this disease.”
